Healing is a completely natural process. Effectively it is the flow of beneficial energy between the healer and the recipient. This energy deals with ‘dis-ease’ at its deepest level and thus frees your natural resources to work in the most effective way for you.
The same is true when we eat – the goodness goes to where it is most needed without us having to think about it.
Spiritual healing is a natural energy therapy which complements conventional medicine by treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
In this context it refers to spiritus: the life force energy that is within us all, and so it is nothing to do with religion or faith.
It is all around us and is available to everyone. Healers learn to use their ability to tap into this natural energy and pass it on.
No. It isn’t necessary to believe in healing for it to work. Spiritual Healing is not associated with any particular religion, -ism or –ology. Faith is not required and healing can help people regardless of their religious beliefs or expectations.
Quite simply, everyone can benefit from healing and there are no side effects.
Yes, it definitely works.
People receiving healing often experience profound emotional, spiritual and physical benefits. These can include pain relief, a raising of the spirits and a deep sense of calm and relaxation.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and the best way to find out if it works is to try it for yourself.
Healing has been used within the NHS for several years, particularly in the field of cancer services. As a complementary therapy, doctors may choose to refer their patient for healing if they wish.
Your doctor continues to have medical responsibility for you at all times and Healing Trust healers, bound by their strict Code of Conduct, would never diagnose nor offer medical advice.
It has been shown and is well documented that patients receiving healing report feeling better able to cope with their illness and many with long-term or terminal illnesses often experience quite dramatic changes to their attitude and quality of life.
This is particularly true of those who’re undergoing rigorous, and often unpleasant, cancer treatments such as chemo- and radiotherapy.
When you arrive, a healer will explain what to expect and answer any of your questions. Then you simply sit on a chair or lie on a couch and relax whilst the healer works around you, either with a light touch or none at all – it is your choice.
It is quite normal to feel tingling, heat or even coolness but some people feel nothing at all - just a deep sense of relaxation.
Sessions usually last about half an hour and most people continue to feel the relaxing benefits for some time afterwards.
All healers give their time for free but we still have to pay rent and overheads so we ask that visitors receiving healing make a donation of £7 per 30 minute session. £5 concessions.
Some of the healers working at Godalming also offer a Private Healing Service.
That’s difficult to say and it’s entirely up to you. Sometimes a single session is enough to help you feel better and sometimes more regular sessions are helpful. Only you can tell how you feel.
Either way after receiving healing you’ll probably feel lighter, brighter, more positive and more able to cope.

Can anyone be a healer or is it a gift?
We all have the ability to heal. Whether it’s healing ourselves, our children or even our pets. Some people undoubtedly have a natural ‘gift’ but, with the right intention and a good tutor, any of us can learn to unlock our healing abilities.
The Healing Trust is largest and oldest membership organisation of Spiritual Healers in the UK. Founded by Harry Edwards in 1954, there are currently over 5000 members.
It is a non-religious charity (No. 1094702) whose healer members can apply to register with the NHS Directory. This means that we can work in hospitals and doctors’ surgeries.
The Healing Trust provides a comprehensive national training scheme for those who wish to become Spiritual Healers as well as introductory workshops for those interested in how they can use healing in their own daily life (see Events - Courses for details).
The Charity has over 50 Healing Centres throughout the UK, staffed by volunteers, where healing is available to the public on a regular basis.
